A Tribe Called Quest. I was fuckin dead by the time they came on and just wanted to go home. They brought my energy back up. I've seen them perform before, wasn't much different from the last time. They only had 2 spotlights goin so Jarobi White was left in the dark a lot of the show.

Hailed as a prodigy on the acoustic double bass within months of first touching the instrument as a 15-year-old, Esperanza Spalding has emerged as a fine jazz bassist, but has also distinguished herself playing blues, funk, hip-hop, pop fusion, and Brazilian and Afro-Cuban styles as well. Born in Portland, OR in 1984, Spalding was not well served by the public school system and soon dropped out of classes to be home schooled. Returning to the public school system at 15, she encountered her first acoustic bass (she had already been playing violin for several years) and immediately took to the instrument. Dropping out of school again, Spalding enrolled in classes at Portland State University as a 16-year-old, and earned her B.A. in just three years and was immediately hired as an instructor in the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston in the spring of 2005. After touring and playing with a whole host of artists, including Joe Lovano, Patti Austin, Michel Camilo, Charlie Haden, Regina Carter, Pat Metheny, Dave Samuels, and a host of others, in addition to heading her own jazz trio, Spalding recorded and released Junjo on the Barcelona-based AYVA imprint in 2006, following it with the simply named Esperanza on Heads Up Records in 2008.

I stumbled upon her on a blog and she's a talent that should definitely be shared.

X-Box 360 Success

My Xbox 360 has been getting 2 redlights on startup. The ring of death is 3 red lights and Microsoft will repair your xbox for free with this. Some reason my xbox would give 2 red lights which means overheating right when I turned on the console. After some searching I found out that it was most likely a problem with the heat heat syncs on the cpu & gpu of the xbox. Then I was left with 2 options. Pay 80 bucks and wait 3 weeks sending my xbox back to Microsoft for repair? Or buy some screws and thermal compound for like 8 bucks and do it myself.. I chose..

It now works better than ever. Somehow I didn't screw it up.

Went to the Opening Reception on Friday. The store has some dope shit, I found most of the clothing pretty consistent with my style. This team looks pretty good. I would have liked to see another defensive minded big man on the roster though. It's all good though with this lineup I see the USA team going small a lot with Lebron and Prince spending some time at the 4. The international big men aren't all that strong anyway so we should be fine. It's going to be interesting to see them distribute the PT among the guards Paul, Kidd, Williams, Bryant, and Wade... Someones gonna have to suck up their pride. Can't wait for the games to start.

I spent most of the day at Carnaval & The Carnaval after party yesterday, from about 12pm - 4am this morning. Carnaval was alright during the day, smelled a lot of good food. Smelled because I wasn't going to pay $8 bucks for a Shish Kabob, I went to Tommy's Joint later and got a whole plate of Burgandy Beef & Rice with a roll for 7. I saw all types of people walking around. The after party lasted from 7pm - 4am.. was pretty crazy, the place had like 3 floors playing different music on each one. Then they also had another room where the reggae and hip hop performances were going on.

Went to Attack Of The Blaps last night at DNA Lounge in SF. The Lineup was..

The place was pretty chill. It wasn't that crowded I just wish they had started the show earlier. We got there at about 10:45pm had a few drinks and waited until 12 for Illmind to go on set. I had about 5 people walk up to me thinking I was Traxamillion.. it was kinda cool but after the 3rd it just got annoying. I only stayed for Babu and Illmind because the show didn't start until about 12am and by the time Babu was starting it was already 12:30. I mostly wanted to see Amp Live, I wonder if he played some of his Radiohead remixes or had any new projects.

Illmind started off with some beats that were alright, I forgot that he produces for G-Unit now, a lot of the beats had that sound. Then he had 2 emcees perform with him I can't remember their group name, he said he was to them what 9th was to Little Brother. The group was alright. The tracks he played after were some dope Bangers, you can't really go wrong if you can bang that shit in your car. The track I enjoyed the most was his sampling of Ordinary Love by Sade, I recorded most of it right here..

Lakers and Cavs won last night woo.. I stopped watchin the Lakers game in the third quarter, nuts that the Jazz almost came back. Outscoring the Lakers 35-22 in the 4th. The Cleveland game was pretty grind it out with the final score bein 74 - 69, only 4 players in the whole game scored in double figures.

While he was at Wake Forest he intentionally hit Julius Hodge in the nuts on an inbounding play, at the time I was a hardcore Julius Hodge fan and that mess sent me over the top. Since then Julius Hodge has had extremely bad luck.. (getting shot, having to kill in the Australian Basketball league, and stints in the NBDL etc..) Chris Paul ruined his life.. Paul's outstanding last 2 seasons have helped me put all that stuff behind though.. Chris Paul for MVP 2008/09!

been sitting around for the last 2 days. A positive is my ankle has miraculously healed overnight. Yesterday morning it still hurt pretty bad, and today when i woke up absolutely no pain at all when walking jumping or jogging. I am going to rest it for a few more days though and keep my brace on. I've spoke too soon before and reinjured my shit plenty of times. Watchin the UCLA vs. Arizona game, UCLA is dominating I felt like watchin a good competitive game today but this is lookin like a joke. Afta-1 - makes the future sound dope, nice melodic beats.

Flying Lotus - Tons of potential. Still seems incomplete though.

Jay Electronica - Dope MC. 1 Melodic song from being pretty damn good.

Panacea - Side Project of Raw Poetic & K-murdock that blew up. Nice group. Some of the songs just sound too corny to me, and some sound great. I enjoy more of the songs from their main Project (if it still is) Restoring Poetry In Music.

DJ A-Trak - Producing, Djing & Remixing this dude is just making music fun again. He's pretty much sayin fuck mainstream, fuck underground, music is music. Bringing the fun back in a respectable non-corny way.

Mickey Factz - Not exactly super talented or anything, but he is doing something different and keeping it simple. He is rappin over shit and sampling from songs no one would think to use, and it works.

Lupe Fiasco - Doing a lot of different things in music. Bringing it all together. Has the kind of open mind necessary to grow and help music grow.

Kanye West - already pretty famous he's doin it all.. but once I heard stronger for the first time, I knew it was a wrap, something greats coming.

I went out and saw Cloverfield today... I give it 2.9/5 stars. I had a free movie pass so it was a fine movie to see for free. They didn't really go into depth enough for me to enjoy the movie, something about a "Monster" with an unknown origin disturbs me. I think they could have at least said it came from space, or Hollow earth, or the ocean somewhere.. The most interesting things about this movie to me were the women. Jessica Lucas and Odette Yustma goddamn.. Jessica Lucas had some Jessica Alba qualities goin on and Odette Yustman looks kinda like Megan Fox. This movie would have gotten 5/5 stars if the monster ripped their clothes off. Yea I guess it was alright though watch it for yourself.

Warriors game though.. Up and Down. Both teams blew some serious leads but thank god Warriors came out on top. Monta Ellis went for 39 and Baron Davis mimicked Jason Kidd and got a triple double. Losing our lead in the 4th quarter worries me about the Warriors though, shows how shitty and unfocused our defense is. I'm almost starting to feel sorry for the Nets, they got some nice talent and just keep on losing, Josh Boone is even starting to kill. I hated Josh Boone at UCONN, I never understood how he was a first round pick. Dude has been bulking up the last few years and hes turning into a rebounding monster. I can see him being a 10 and 10 player in the near future if placed in the right situation. Maybe nets should made some big trades and rebuild, but I don't know with all that talent they have to come out of their slump some time.

Overall I had a pretty laid back day. I was supposed to watch Cloverfield earlier but just wasn't in the mood. I decided to be a little productive so I cleaned my room and cooked some. TV treated me well today, there was plenty of college & NBA basketball on all day. Warriors got that win booooy. USC beat UCLA though wtf.. damn you Davon Jefferson, just had to get off this game. Westbrook didn't shoot too well either. Kansas game was alright Bill Walker killed the first half and Beasley pretty much took over in the second after an alright first half. UNC lost to Maryland... Duke beat Clemson, Gerald Henderson almost had some crazy ass dunk. I wish he would have made it, could have been one of the top dunks this year. There were other games but I didn't watch em all.

Warriors Vs. Hornets 56-58 at the half.

Its been raining all day and I'm going nuts. I made some more buffalo wings this morning and they were off the hook, tomorrow I'm gonna try a new recipe I found online that sounds pretty good. Spent my whole day playing NBA2k8,Virtua Tennis 3, and Call Of Duty. Games got old fast... took some naps, ate random food in the fridge. Today is pretty weak. I can't stand the rain its so debilitating, hardly had enough energy to eat today. Tomorrow better be better than today. I just got back from the gym and I feel great for going but my body is killing me. For the last few weeks I've been going in stints like once or twice every couple of weeks. I shall start going consistently from now on. Blazers beat Bulls, good shit. Sonics lost but Durant went off so I don't mind. Denver beat San Antonio but I don't care about those teams. Work was boring as hell, we played Taboo since no customers were coming and I lost every fucking time, that games stupid. This morning I tried to replicate Wingstops Lemon Pepper wings.. it didn't go too well. In the midst of preparing them I went all Iron Chef and starting adding soy sauce and hot sauce and emptied my cabinets into a bowl. At the time I thought I was making the most bomb ass wings in history. To an observer I probably looked like a 5 year old playing in the kitchen and to be honest thats how I felt. In the end the wings tasted like shit and I had to go to work on an empty stomach. I'm going to try again in about 10 hours though.

Warriors did a great job of containing Iverson who went 2-12 on fgs. Haven't watched the game yet but from the box looks like we did alright.
